  • Varnishing my first ever oil painting

Varnishing my first ever oil painting

I’m a bit late to post this one here since I’m pretty busy finishing the next magazine at work but before I forget it, here it is!

Damn, was I afraid to ruin my painting. I heard so many stories about the varnish not smoothing out and other stuff that I procrastinated this for months 🙈 But luckily all worked out well and the varnish came out smooth. So I am really looking forward to soon present a new collection of paintings to you 😊

  • Free June Moon tracker

    Free June Moon tracker

    Midsummer nights

This month I haven’t had much time to create. There was too much going on in my life and lately it took a toll on me so I need to take a step back and take care of myself. Still I wanted to do my habit tracker (since I use it for myself anyways 🤪) and decided to do one inspired by lush summer nights with fireflies dancing in the grass. I played a bit around with digital art and created a midsummer night scene. This time there are also matching journaling cards included.

The tracker is a simple vertical tracker for up to 11 things you want to keep track of as well as the full illustrated frame. The PDF file contains a German version (page 2) and an English version (page 1). The moon phases fit for Europe. Please note they may vary in other regions. Size is 12 x 21 cm (PDF file is Din A4 with cut marks).

And if you like the tracker or my work I always appreciate your support by sharing my posts on social media or showing how you use the tracker. Or you can buy me a tea 😊

  • An exploration into space abstracts

    An exploration into space abstracts

After my last abstract I wanted to try it out with my usual color palette and chose a photo of the milky way as reference. I admit, that kind of kept me from being open because I somehow tried to make it look like the milky way. At one point I tried to break free from it, which resulted in a rather chaotic painting. I was thinking about painting over it but after sleeping over it, I thought maybe I could still get some nice parts out of it. But I haven’t yet cut it up.

    Adventures into abstract painting

Some days ago I took a class from Denise Love about abstract painting and color blocking. I decided to go for the colors she used in her class and mixed similar colors with my acrylic paints (although I somehow forgot to mix the yellow ochre, oops). Then I just went for it and played around with large brushes, my palette knife and a scraper. And I have to admit, that I really like the result. I’m not yet sure if I will cut it up since there are several areas that I do like.

Originally I wanted to do some watercolor florals as decoration for the tracker but somehow inspiration just didn’t hit me. Instead I felt more drawn to create some abstracts and I recently fell a bit in love with the color combination of spring green, sunset orange and mint green that a friend recently gave me as a task. Today I sat down and played a bit aroung with my acrylic colors and I really like the pop of color they give.

I also created some matching journaling cards but those will be a goodie for my newsletter-subscribers. So make sure to sign up in time!

  • Explorations into abstract art

    Explorations into abstract art

Lately, I’ve been drawn to abstract painting more and more. It’s a unique form of art that allows me to express my creativity without being bound by traditional techniques or rules. On the other hand it’s also a challenge if you get stuck in your head. What helps me to prevent going in my head is to just play and experiment without an intention of making „good“ looking art. Something that I learned in a group of lovely people in That Creative Space. So I’ve been experimenting with different techniques and color combinations. One of them was suggested by my dear friend Sabrina from SuisideArt and it really caught my eye: spring green, sunset orange, and mint green.

The bright and cheerful spring green represents growth, renewal, and nature. It adds a sense of freshness and energy, perfectly fitting to spring. Sunset orange, on the other hand, is warm and vibrant and adds a lot of drama and intensity. A touch of freshness and balance comes from the mint green that adds a sense of harmony and serenity. Together, these colors create a striking and unique combination that adds a lot of interest and depth while evoking a wide range of emotions and moods.

It was a lot of fun painting with this colors and I’ll definitely come back to them soon. But I also plan to keep exploring and experimenting with different colors and techniques, and let my creativity run wild.

  • Bringing a Celestial Scene to Life

Bringing a Celestial Scene to Life

These videos have been a pain in the a* to edit and cut together. Simply because I had the glorious idea to film the process in almost 4K 🙄 But I finally managed it and hope you enjoy this little timelapse of my acrylic ink experiment on raw cotton.

I really enjoyed playing on a different material for the first time. Yes, I painted on canvas but that was always primed with Gesso. But I saw several artists using their canvas raw and unprimed so I had to try it out myself. And I have to say that I really enjoy working on the raw material and definitely will try that again.

I was about to skip the tracker this time since I’m rather busy. But I did have a cute idea and so I took a moment to create this funny space bunny themed tracker for April.

  • Live painting session with a friend

Live painting session with a friend

My friend Sabrina (suiside.de) and me had a little live painting session where we painted together with acrylic paint and talked about the medium. She painted a wood nymph with acrylic paint while I painted a galactic nebula with acrylic inks. The livestream was in German so sorry for any non-german speaking people. But feel free to drop in and ask questions in english that we reply to.
