Astronomy
Explore the night sky with me
and my telescopes.
The night sky has fascinated me for as long as I can remember. It began with meteor showers on my grandparents’ balcony, a solar eclipse in 1999 and the quiet fascination of knowing that there are worlds far beyond anything we can imagine.
Today, I explore the night sky with my telescopes: observing planets, nebulae, galaxies and deep-sky objects, chasing eclipses and meteor showers, capturing celestial moments through astrophotography and collecting the small stories that happen during long nights under the stars.
Sometimes that means spontaneously stepping outside at night, standing beside the car and looking up until everyday life fades away. Other times it means cold, clear nights at astronomy gatherings, perfect seeing and a crisp view of Jupiter with all four Galilean moons.
Here you’ll find my observation reports, astronomy gallery, telescope equipment and ongoing projects — a growing archive for stargazers, astrophotography lovers and anyone who still looks up and feels something.
„I know nothing with any certainty but the sight of the stars makes me dream.“
(Vincent van Gogh)

- A Small Outreach MomentA few days before the solar eclipse on March 29th, a local newspaper reached out to our astronomy club about the event. Of course we said yes and spoke about our club and the upcoming partial solar eclipse. We spoke about our plans for the upcoming eclipse, safe ways to… A Small Outreach Moment weiterlesen
- First Light with the Seestar S50I wanted to get more seriously into astrophotography for years, but my older setup was way too much without a fixed place to set it up. While I had taken some night-sky photos with DSLR cameras and smartphones before, I finally wanted to take proper photos of deep sky objects… First Light with the Seestar S50 weiterlesen
- A Week Under the StarsIn October, I attended our annual star party in Zwischenbergen/Wiesmoor, where amateur astronomers from across Germany gathered to share their passion for the night sky. This year, we were fortunate to enjoy clear skies on several nights—and a few very special surprises. But more on that later. On October 5th,… A Week Under the Stars weiterlesen
- A magical summer night surpriseOn the night of August 12th, the maximum of the Perseid meteor shower, I spontaneously went outside to catch some shooting stars. Little did I know, the night would hold an even more magical surprise. It was a clear night, and the Perseid meteors didn’t disappoint—bright, swift, and frequent. Equipped… A magical summer night surprise weiterlesen
- An enchanting Hamburg tripIt’s been a while since I posted something but I thought I’d share this sketch of the observatory in Hamburg Bergedorf. I visited it for a telescope meeting that took place along with the @lndmhh and it is absolutely worth the visit from all the telescopes right up to a… An enchanting Hamburg trip weiterlesen
