A Small Outreach Moment

A few days before the solar eclipse on March 29th, a local newspaper reached out to our astronomy club about the event. Of course we said yes and spoke about our club and the upcoming partial solar eclipse.

We spoke about our plans for the upcoming eclipse, safe ways to observe it and why events like this are a wonderful opportunity to bring people closer to astronomy. The article and video were published in German, since it was a local newspaper feature, but I wanted to keep this little outreach moment here as part of my astronomy archive.

For me, this is one of the best parts of being involved in an astronomy club: not only observing for ourselves, but helping others experience that moment of looking up and realizing that something special is happening above us.

And because it cannot be said often enough: never look directly at the Sun without proper solar filters or certified eclipse glasses. Sunglasses are not enough. Your retina is not a warranty-covered accessory.
