Chasing the Crescent Nebula NGC 6888

NGC6888 Cresent Nebula photographed with a DWARF 3 smart telescope

From July to September 2025, I kept returning to NGC 6888, the Crescent Nebula, and gradually collected more data whenever I had the opportunity.

The final image combines 336 minutes of exposure time, all taken in 15-second exposures with the DWARF 3.

NGC 6888 itself sits almost in the centre of a much larger and incredibly rich region of Cygnus. What I especially like about this image is how much of the surrounding emission nebulosity becomes visible around the brighter Crescent, together with the dense star field and darker structures running through the frame.

With more than five and a half hours of total integration time, this is one of the deeper DWARF 3 images I had put together by that point.
