C/2023 A3: A Comet Worth Watching
My first time seeing a comet: C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan–ATLAS) appeared clearly above the light dome of Delfzijl. A quiet evening at the dyke, shared telescope views, and my first real try at photographing a comet.

In October, I attended our annual star party in Zwischenbergen/Wiesmoor, where amateur astronomers from across Germany gathered to share their passion for the night sky. This year, we were fortunate to enjoy clear skies on several nights—and a few very special surprises. But more on that later. On October 5th, I traveled to Zwischenbergen with […]
On the night of August 12th, the maximum of the Perseid meteor shower, I spontaneously went outside to catch some shooting stars. Little did I know, the night would hold an even more magical surprise. It was a clear night, and the Perseid meteors didn’t disappoint—bright, swift, and frequent. Equipped only with my smartphone, a […]
It’s been a while since I posted something but I thought I’d share this sketch of the observatory in Hamburg Bergedorf. I visited it for a telescope meeting that took place along with the @lndmhh and it is absolutely worth the visit from all the telescopes right up to a library full of astronomical books […]
Finally I could make a photo of this painting. I painted it from a photo that @deepsky.balve took a while ago and I love how it turned out.
On October 28th there was a partial lunar eclipse taking place. It was rather cloudy but we were at least lucky enough to see it through the clouds. In Germany it was also astronomy day so our astronomy group offered an observation evening in the tiny observatory.
The northern lights are always magical. So when I came across a tutorial beginning of 2022 I just had to try it.
I’m a tad bit late with posting recently because there are a lot of things going on. Still, I was able to catch some glimpses of the partial solar eclipse last week.
It’s been a while since I talked about this. But after those wrinkles I was a bit frustrated because sanding it down was quite some work. But with the wet sanding it worked best and I could smooth out most of the wrinkles.
Each year in autumn, our local astronomy group organizes a meeting of hobby-astronomers called „Astronomie-Tage Ostfriesland“ (astronomy days east frisia). People from all over Germany come with their telescopes to spend some nights under the stars. If you’re around, feel free to step by, talk with us and take a look through some telescopes. This […]
